Cheese, meats, & cheese

The main deli counter is pretty standard, apart from having proper Modern tile instead of the normal Lifestyle leftovers. Strangely, the deli case itself is the Albertsons flat-front style instead of Safeway's normal curved-front case; I'm not sure if this was the standard following the merger, but Safeway seems to have since switched to square all-glass cases for new builds.

  1. I tried posting this in the deli post, but Blogger wasn't having any part of that so I'll try this here. Blogger really is getting worse by the day for me here lately.

Ha, that is cheap looking alright! I'm not sure if that is the intent, but it might be! It is always funny to see those corn dogs. I think I saw them at either Safeway or Fred Meyer when I was in Portland, maybe both. I wasn't sure if my eyes were deceiving me when I saw something that looked like a corn dog in the deli case, but it seems that this Safeway at least proudly advertises their corn dogs! Maybe you should do a Safeway corn dog review one of these days!

Anyway, there is a lot of a 'no-frills' look going on here with all the white and concrete floors. Some Kroger stores built in the last decade or so have stained concrete floors which look a tad bit better, but this really does look like my garage...if only I had some 1970s or 1980s simulated wood furniture in my garage! Lifestyle this isn't!

    1. Hmm, it is possible that they were going for a cheap Cheep look -- I hadn't even thought about that! I have seen classier Cheep Chicken signs at other Safeways, but it's possible that they only bring out this stuff on Mondays -- it's quite uncommon for me to go to Safeway on a Monday.

I don't think corn dogs are a standard offering at Safeways around here, but maybe I just haven't noticed -- they aren't really my thing. I'm much more likely to feature the pizza that a few of their stores serve!
