Pretty much the entire secondary salesfloor is occupied by the deli, with the service department taking up a lot of the space, leaving a fairly cramped area for the salesfloor itself. If the side entrance was open, this setup would make sense, placing the service departments as the first thing people walked through, but now it's somewhat of a hidden alcove -- though plenty of people were clearly able to find it regardless!
I have to wonder why this one little part of the store got the drop ceiling the rest of the store so desperately needs, and why Safeway went for this office-like lighting rather than anything they normally use -- and even more so, how this store ended up with a water-stained ceiling tile after a few days (at most) of operation! Also of note, this store got the new, very square service cases that I saw in California, but this time for the deli rather than the service meat department (which this store doesn't have, of course).
