Interestingly, the floral department is under a semicircular soffit, something I have seen before but always associated with 70s-era stores. Now I have to wonder if it was actually added in 90s remodels! Or maybe it's an older design feature than I had thought and some later Marina stores originally had it... who knows.
Some Marina Safeways did have a curved snack bar in that corner of the store, as you can see in the photo below, but I'm not sure if that's what this was originally.
