The deli and bakery run along the back wall of the store, and are remarkably close to full size for this vintage store. The bakery is very similar to the one at my local store, lacking a proper service counter but still having pretty much a full selection otherwise, and including at least some in-store preparation space. Most of the fixtures were replaced or at least reskinned in the Modern remodel, and this store even got a full new woodgrain floor, which looks quite nice.
This looks like one of the better installations of Modern! The fake woodgrain floor works well with the ceiling beams and the fake wood elements in Modern. Lifestyle probably looked good here too, but this might be once instance where maybe Modern was a slight upgrade.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think Modern is one of the nicest decor packages when it comes to vintage stores like this one, and the somewhat fancier implementation here definitely looks nice! I never particularly liked how Lifestyle looked in stores like this one -- it's cookie-cutter nature often didn't really fit with older or otherwise non-standard stores. (Though I think your area did a better job of that than other Safeway divisions.)
