Safelink

As I headed back to the light rail station, I got this shot of a northbound train approaching the station. Link has changed a good bit in the years since this visit, with a major expansion opening and a new fleet of Siemens trains arriving and largely displacing these original Kinki Sharyo sets (they aren't being retired, but are apparently having significant reliability problems that have led to them being a fairly rare sight in service).

You know I can't resist the chance to talk about transit!

Ha, maybe this didn't stand out to you since it is so normal in Seattle, but there is an older (though not old) Volvo next to an older Subaru! While maybe perfectly normal there, neither of those cars would be commonly spotted here in current times individually much less together! A Nissan Altima, OTOH, would be one of the most common cars to spot here...even those late 2000s fourth generation ones are still very common around here.

One thing about these older sedans is how big the 'greenhouse' area is relative to current sedans! They certainly did have taller roofs and more glass area. I suppose this has advantages and disadvantages. Visibility and airiness are both better in the older sedans, but all that glass space can lead to someone getting a trucker's tan on sunny days. Granted, excess sun certainly wasn't an issue when this photo was taken and the Subaru has tinted windows anyway!

    1. Ha, neither of those cars are anywhere near "older" enough to draw my attention! Neither one is a particularly common model, but cars from the 00s (especially Subarus) are still quite common.
