It seems a bit strange that the liquor department in this store is just a couple of aisles, rather than being a full-fledged department like it is in most Safeways. It also lacks the classy Lifestyle-era shelving I'm used to seeing, so all in all, this seems like a big downgrade compared to older stores! The faux-neon beer signs aren't exactly giving this place a classy vibe either.

Ha, the industrial nature of this store does kind of make it look like a country bar! All it needs is some sawdust on the floor. Heck, that might make the floors here look nicer than they are!
ReplyDeleteI've seen neon beer signs at Randall's here. It's a bit odd given that Randall's didn't even start selling beer until the mid-1990s or so, but it is nice to see some neon. I guess it doesn't bother me too much though seeing expensive wines right by a neon Budweiser sign is a bit strange even if it is probably entirely common at liquor stores.
I know Publix used to have neon beer signs back in the 1990's but now I only see them in independent grocery stores (and the occasional vintage Winn-Dixie).
