In addition to Modern's standard (but rarely seen around here) local flair aisle names, this store has a model of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge on one of the endcaps back here -- pretty neat! I was about to dismiss this as just being
the Golden Gate Bridge model from their San Francisco stores repainted green, but no, it actually is its own thing! I wonder if the octopuses climbing on the bridge are a Kraken reference.

ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that a local Washingtonian doesn't know about the urban legend of the Tacoma Narrows octopus! I went to a brewery that overlooked the bridge during my trip that featured a plethora of octopus imagery around the building. They even have some octopus tentacles on most of their beer can designs.
