The most obvious cheap part of "Cheap" Urban Mix is the retention of the original Fresh Fare wall tile, but that isn't even unique to this version -- some regular Urban Mix QFCs didn't get new wall tile either, and most later Banner remodels left the old Fred Meyer Northwest tile in place. Add in the leftover Lifestyle tile that Safeway is content to leave in place in their Modern stores, and it's clear that stores no longer consider wall tile replacement to be an important part of decor updates. While we're talking about tiles, QFC clearly didn't bother fixing the mismatched ones on the ceiling here; when I was in this store, I was also unhappy about the lack of any on the floor, since I had completely forgotten they were already missing in the Fresh Fare days.
Apparently this post is all about tiles now.
Changing the subject, the new, plain "deli" sign looks a little strange sitting on top of a lightbox designed for the former "corner deli" wording!
At least the Fresh Fare wall tile here blends in better than the CM 2.x tile Publix has left behind in numerous Evergreen remodels (or even the Wavy Pastels tiles that have been revealed in others).
