Heading back towards the main stairs, here's another view of the liquor department, with its bizarre lack of security features. The plans I have show that these aisles were supposed to get new numbers (starting at 13, so an extension of the main floor's numbering), but instead they were just left with the original aisle markers, which don't even quite line up with the aisles anymore.

  1. I can't get over how odd (on top of everything else about this store) the ceilings look. I guess it would be less off-putting if they weren't as low, but everything being exposed just makes this place feel a bit cluttered and claustrophobic. I think it probably would've looked better just being a plain dropped ceiling.

    1. I feel like if they put in a drop ceiling low enough to cover all of the ductwork and such, it would feel even more claustrophobic! A lighter paint color would probably help, though.

    2. That's a good point. It would also probably help if all of the random wires and pipes were painted the same color as the ceiling.
