Mega-dairy

I was surprised to see just how much the dairy department grew in the remodel -- it took over the entire self-service meat and deli meat departments (the latter moved to the old natural foods section, later home to beer, in the first aisle past the liquor section). Dairy doesn't exactly seem like the most obvious department to see a big expansion -- it's hard to imagine how much selection there could possibly be to fill up all the space, and with most products being highly perishable, it seems like having a very large stock wouldn't be a great idea -- but despite all that, it's been quite common for Fred Meyer to add a very large dairy department in recent remodels.
