This picture nicely illustrates the point I was making in the last one -- just look at how much butter this store has! My local Safeway (admittedly on the opposite extreme, being a fairly small store) has just as much selection, but crammed into one endcap shared with assorted other dairy products. I can't help but feel like this is another sign of Kroger just not knowing what to do with Fred Meyer-size stores... but then again, it seems like it would be much cheaper and easier to expand dry goods areas rather than perishables, so maybe there's a good reason for this and I just can't figure it out. The weird, mismatched cases back here are because this area is a hodgepodge of old meat cases with new doors, old dairy cases that already had doors, and a few brand-new ones to replace the frozen cases that were back here for the meat department (I'm not sure where frozen meat was moved to, since none of the new cases over there are freezers).
