Dairy cow

Off in the back right corner, the dairy department here oddly has just the oval sign to identify it, without any proper department lettering. This is something that Safeway did randomly in both Proto-Lifestyle and Lifestyle v1 -- in fact, I always had it in my head that "Poetry in Bloom" originated in v2 because the v1 store in Port Angeles just had a couple ovals for its floral department despite having enough room for a proper sign! Interestingly, the dairy department is about the only place where this store feels significantly different from the typical Safeway these days (ignoring the decor, obviously) -- most stores have replaced the small coffin cases and promotional display space this store has with a much larger island case. Other than that, very little has changed over the years with the layout or fixtures in these 90s-00s Safeways.
