The strangest part of this store's remodel is that the bakery service portion got shrunk down, with the cases that would typically be pretty close to the edge of the drop-ceiling area instead pushed well back, fairly close to the tile wall. I suspect the floor scar a few feet in front of the current case location is where the back of the cases used to be. I really don't get why they did this, especially since the bakery floor area looks strangely sparse these days due to the extra space. Safeway also replaced the wall tile in this department, with white subway tile and green glass tile accents; this is better than the all-black stuff the meat department got, but I'm really not a fan of the green-brown accent color.
