redbox and orange box

The left entrance opens into a weird little alcove due to the apartment building extending past the store to the left, really emphasizing how this store is just a 70s/early 80s prototypical Safeway store crammed into a mixed-use building. It's very strange to see this sort of development compared to the custom-designed mixed-use Safeways I'm used to seeing! I have to wonder what's up with the little temporary "Welcome West Seattle Safeway Customers" banner in the alcove is about -- Street View shows it was already there in 2011 when they first drove by; I had been thinking it might have been installed when the apartment building facade was being redone, but that predates that work. And it's amusing to see how much firewood this store had when I visited -- it nearly reaches to the top of the Redbox and Amazon Locker!
