That power pole right in the middle of the entrance driveway is something you don't often see these days

That 1962 build date puts this store right in the middle of the Marina era, but this store, quite obviously, is not a Marina model. It was clearly influenced by Marina design -- the general idea of a high roof with an almost-all-glass facade is still here, as are some specific details like the horizontal sign band in the middle of the glass and the rock walls on either side, but it has a peaked roof instead of the typical arch. In that regard, this store is similar to the one in Clatskanie (in northern Oregon); however, the construction is significantly different -- this one has its roof beams running front to back (and you can see them sticking out at the front of the store), whereas the Clatskanie store is more like a typical Marina Safeway and has them running side to side (following the peaked shape of the roof) -- and this one has a matching shopping center extending out on either side of the store.
