While Safeway is obviously the anchor tenant and the star of the show here, the strip mall wings extending off either side are perhaps even more visually interesting, with the zigzagging awning complementing the repeated pitched roof pattern. This is a surprisingly large shopping center to be built in 1962 for a town that even today only has around 4,000 people -- that's probably why it has survived to this day in such an intact state, which I obviously can't complain about!
