The main bakery counter in this store sits on the back of the escalator bank, facing the back of the store, which seems a bit odd (but I guess they did what they could with this strange store setup). As much as people many of you hate the cupcake graphic, the "Bakery Shop" sign looks rather plain on its own, especially with the dull grey wall, so that's probably why the designers added that in the first place. (Also, the "P" looks larger than the rest of the small letters, and the "Y" is poorly kerned, but I guess that's just par for the course in recent Kroger decors.)

This whole department signage is full of fail. In addition to the clip art cupcake, there is the terrible grey paint and the problems with the 'Y' and 'P' that you mention. If I had to name the biggest fail out of all those fails, I would go with the grey paint. Who thinks of grey when they think of bakeries?!
ReplyDeleteOh for sure, the gray paint does this department no favors whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I agree with both of you. It's good that Kroger decided to switch to blue, but it's too bad that came after they stopped using Neighborhood around here!
