This store only has five regular checkouts plus four self-checkouts, so it's clear that this wasn't designed to be a high-volume store (though, to Safeway's credit, this store still manages to have a much larger percentage of lanes open than you normally see these days, and rarely has the long lines I'm used to at larger stores as a result).
