When I said "something new" yesterday, I actually meant something very old! This store appears to have been built circa 1994, and I would have assumed that was the end of the story and this store hadn't been touched since then, but I decided to dig around in the Washington County property records anyways, and found something very interesting. Unless I'm just being very much misled by the records, it was originally a Thriftway (which I discussed briefly here and mentioned that I suspected that some Safeways had once been Thriftways -- this may just be confirmed with this store). What's even more surprising is that the conversion/remodel appears to have happened in 2000, but I'll get back to that in a minute.
