Welcome to the Prominade (Central District) Red Apple!

This store was built in 1980, and closed in September 2017 not long after I took these pictures. This store was originally built as a Thriftway, before converting to a Red Apple at some point -- I wouldn't expect either of those names to mean anything to you, but they're both brands used by independent grocery stores in the northwest, and affiliated with Northwest Grocers (which from what I can tell is basically a local version of the IGA concept). When I first saw this store, I thought it looked fairly Safeway-y, but from what I can tell it was never a Safeway (and perhaps the Safeways that I'm associating with this look were once Thriftways).
