Dead garden center

Stepping back outside, here's a look at the former garden center, in the extremely abandoned state I mentioned earlier. There isn't much to see here, other than the remnants of a sign on the right and the cart graveyard that's accumulated in the old outside garden center. The one particularly interesting thing is the remnants of garage doors that are visible on the wall to the left -- I imagine this was once the auto center, which (somewhat surprisingly for Kmart) seems to have been completely wiped out, with no traces of it left on the inside. (You can see the blocked-up garage doors better in Street View.) I have to wonder if this store was doing relatively well -- at least well enough for its small size to be a problem -- at some point in the past, perhaps in the 90s when the last real remodel was done, leading to Kmart deciding to expand the store into the auto center, rather than leaving it empty and abandoned as they did in most stores I've seen.
