I have to say, it's not hard to see how some of the clothing here ended up on clearance sale well outside of its season. I like bright colors, but most of what we can see here is just awful. And considering this is Sears, it's probably not great quality either.
At least up until 2020, Sears had some good quality men's clothing. They had a large selection of Levi's, Lee, and Wrangler jeans, Arrow polos and dress shirts, and Dockers and Haggar slacks. I bought a lot of these things in January 2020 from my local Sears because I had taken advantage of a 'Buy $100, Get $200 in points' promotion in November/December 2019. Even aside from that, the prices were very good.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, my local Sears started their closing sale in February 2020 and it was never fully completed because of Covid. I used the last of my points on the first week of the liquidation sale. I say unfortunately, but I'm sure the quality of the merchandise would have slid downhill pretty fast even if it lasted much longer than that. Even before that, some store brand clothing was around that I'm sure was made for Kmart stores, and were certainly Kmart quality, but somehow they were at Sears. It wasn't all that though, but it does look like the Kmart-grade stuff took over eventually.
I'm not sure exactly when Sears' quality started going downhill, but by the time of the closing sale it all seemed like overpriced junk. For all I know, some of it may have been clearance Kmart stuff that had been sitting in a warehouse somewhere.
