Deli, at the start of the arch


Did you notice that two of the categories listed below the bakery sign were sushi and hot foods? That's because the deli and bakery are combined here (with the butcher block right next door). This makes sense for such a constrained store (around 25,000 square feet), but it's a rare sight for Safeway, which would traditionally only have a service deli in a store like this and skip the bakery altogether. I suspect this was a bit of Albertsons influence sneaking in, since they often had all of the service departments in the same part of the store (while Safeway preferred to put them in separate corners).
