Up front

On the 2017 version of this photo, I wrote that "Fred Meyer tends to be good about installing (and staffing!) plenty of checkouts", something that clearly didn't age well. (To be fair, I did say that in comparison to Safeway, and I do feel that Fred Meyer is still a little better than Safeway in that regard... but of course, that's a very low bar.) Since that visit, Playland shut down (I'm pretty sure Fred Meyer killed off that feature chain-wide), but surprisingly, the Chase Bank branch hung on until the end.
