I believe this side of the building, with its funny little drive-through lane, was originally Broadway's main entrance. The boring grey panels are probably the original entrance doors, covered by the cantilevered upper levels of the building in a classic department store style (though the overall building here is quite boring compared to most classic department stores. This bit of driveway seems completely useless these days, with no reason to pick up or drop off someone here.
