Under lock and key


Another big complaint about Bartell under Rite Aid's ownership was that they locked up a lot more products, while also cutting a lot of the staff that would have helped customers get to the locked products. Of course, this isn't exclusive to Rite Aid/Bartell (pretty much every chain store has been doing this lately, with Target and QFC having also received a lot of flack for the same thing), but it certainly didn't help their public perception meltdown.
