I'd be pretty surprised if this store didn't always have a back entrance (since the parking lot has always been back here), but it still looks like a bit of an afterthought, especially with the switchback ramp needed to get to the alley level. It looks like there used to be a shorter, steeper ramp that led straight out from the doors, which I'm sure didn't meet modern building code. It's weird to see all sorts of food products lined up on the ramp here -- you definitely wouldn't see that in the northwest, even during the summer time when rain isn't common! I guess that shows you how dry it is in this part of California, yet another reason why I could never live here. The Albertsons logos on the recycling cans are weird too -- modern-day Albertsons doesn't tend to stick its logo all over stores with other branding, unlike Supervalu-era Albertsons.
Wow, that is strange seeing crackers and such stored outside like that! Those would turn into a soggy mess if they were stored outside here in Houston due to the humidity! Plus there is the heat and cold, depending on the season and plenty of rain too. We also have a lot of cockroaches here too, so there is that, lol.
