The main salesfloor has a proper ceiling, but it still looks a bit weird, largely thanks to those angular soffits. The funky flooring is a leftover from the pre-Safeway days, while the decor is new but (as far as I know) completely unique to Andronico's. It reminds me a lot of Kroger's Reclaimed decor, but a bit more polished. Most of the Andronico's stores out there have a much nicer decor (which I also got a chance to photograph), and this one might be unique to this individual store.
That Safeway logo next to the bananas display certainly takes away any mystery as to who is behind Andronico's! I doubt there is much doubt with the locals though, and the Sincerely signs certainly aren't helping hide anything.
ReplyDeleteKings Food Markets is another oddball semi-independent within the Albertsons umbrella.
Oh yeah, I had forgotten about Kings/Balducci's! Those are Albertsons' most recent takeovers, so I'm not surprised they're still doing their own thing. Shaw's/Star Market is another oddball -- I'm not sure what they're doing these days, but I know they had their own decor packages in the Supervalu days.
DeleteSafeway doesn't seem to be particularly concerned with keeping a separate identity for Andronico's, like they are for Haggen around here. Heck, they even stuck the Safeway name on most of the stores for a few years!
