I also wouldn't have expected car batteries to be a high-theft item, but it looks like this store had devised their own home-made setup for locking them in place, so I guess they must be! It's fun to see that even this very modern Walmart still has the old-fashioned battery lookup gadget (hanging on the shelf to the right).
