Croissants galore

Save-On went way over the top with their bakery display, with what seems to be a custom counter with a glass enclosure on top. Frustratingly, that means that pretty much everything is employee access only (and even in this store, with its tons of employees, I had to wait a while to get my croissants -- one apple and one almond, which were pretty good but not exceptional, especially considering they were $4 CAD each). Behind the counter, the walls are covered in interesting faux-stone tile, surrounding a set of ovens on full display -- not quite as showy as Safeway's late-Lifestyle ovens, but I think these actually get use since Save-On heavily promotes their baked goods as having been freshly baked in store (something that Safeway quietly dropped from all of their marketing a few years back).
