There's really not a lot of distance between Nordstrom (a newer addition to the mall) and Macy's -- just three storefronts divide them. Southcenter is remarkably compact for a mall with 5 anchors, compared to the sprawling monstrosities that were built in many other parts of the country, and that's probably part of why it's still so successful today -- not being massively overbuilt has meant it hasn't been dragged down by massive vacancy rates.
