The deli-bakery setup is pretty much identical to what you would find in any modern Walmart, though buried somewhere back there (or maybe behind the cases in the last photo) is an old Kmart solarium! It's a sad world when Walmart has nicer-looking service departments than some grocery stores, but at least they have real wall tile, unlike some stores I've seen in recent years...
This isn't really too far off from Kroger Artisan, but Artisan's fake wood looks a lot cheaper than what we see here and this is a little more 3D. The deli section at least looks like my local Artisan Grocery Palace Krogertsons with the biggest difference being that the wall at this Walmart (ha!) is finished up top unlike the Krogertson's upper wall.
ReplyDeleteOf course, anytime we're comparing something to Artisan, it means I don't think it looks very good, lol. Perhaps by Walmart standards, this isn't too bad, but there's absolutely nothing here which is making me want to visit a Walmart! Well, the bananas don't look too bad I suppose, lol.
Airport is Walmart's nicest decor package in years, but that isn't exactly a high bar! I'd consider it about on par with Artisan -- Artisan gains points for having a bit more variety (at least it doesn't use the same color for everything) but loses them for its seriously bad quality of finishes.
