Wrapping up, here's one last look at the nearly-untouched Albertsons facade. I have to wonder why Save Mart chose to feature seafood on the exterior signage! Anyway, that's it for this look at another interesting conversion and time capsule of sorts -- back to something Safeway tomorrow!
Featuring seafood like that is quite strange! I wonder if that side of the facade was wired for one of Albertsons' food or pharmacy signs and so they felt compelled to put some kind of sign there so they didn't have to disconnect the wiring. Then again, they could have just separated the deli and bakery signs instead of having those signs look a bit like the Food Lion and Ingles signs!
ReplyDeleteThe labelscar above it is where the pharmacy sign used to be, so originally there were two signs on each side (probably replacements for Albertsons' Food and Pharmacy signs). Seems like there would have been more logical choices than seafood for the fourth sign, though!
