Out on Rainier Ave S, the big road sign still has its very 90s Rainier Valley Square sign to this day. This sort of big multi-tenant road sign is a pretty rare sight in Seattle proper, where most big strip malls (and there aren't even very many of those) date back to when it was more common for each individual major tenant to have their own road sign. As far as I know, large signs like this were never banned in Seattle like they have been in many suburbs, but this type of big car-oriented "shopping center" development just isn't all that common in Seattle any longer, with Rainier Square being one of the last ones built from scratch in the city proper.
