The Albertsons-blue awnings on the sweet side of the bakery are still in place too, looking surprisingly clean and fresh. I assume it was Save Mart that decided to add birthday party supplies to this department, but that's pretty clever -- gets people to impulse-buy them when they grab their cake! I wonder how much business they get from custom cakes, something Safeway (in the Seattle Division) seems to have largely given up on (sure, they technically still offer them, but good luck finding a bakery employee to order it from...).
Clever cross-merchandising indeed.
