Stepping inside (1)

I decided to start out with the left-hand building, which is home primarily to produce and the service departments. Produce is right in the center of the building, under the modern exposed ceiling (which is a bit unusual for a Lifestyle-era store). The layout means that the vast majority of this building has Lifestyle's woodgrain flooring, while the plain white vinyl generally used for the central part of the salesfloor is nowhere in sight!

Geez, I'm not even sure if those bar stool patio furniture pieces would fit on top of the coolers at some of Safeway's various low ceiling height stores! Then again, my local Randall's put a bunch of patio umbrellas up on top of the frozen food cases recently. They fit since those cases are at the center of the gable roof, but it does a number on blocking the light in that area of the store! I guess that's what patio umbrellas are supposed to do, but these are turned on their sides!

    1. Ha! Yeah, I'm not even sure what the point is of putting furniture on display where you can hardly see it! Putting stuff on top of cases is a total Albertsons thing -- Safeway did sell patio furniture before the Albertsons merger, but they would normally put it on the floor, where people could actually look at it. I have no idea who would buy furniture at Safeway, especially considering the prices they charge, but I guess some people must because otherwise I don't know why they would keep stocking it!
