Home is where the throw pillows are

It's a bit strange to see a whole section of Eddie Bauer bedding -- at least that's a local Seattle company, but they're an outdoorsy clothing brand! Plaid bedspreads seem to be stretching their brand quite a bit! Martha Stewart makes a bit more sense (since she'll license her name to pretty much anything), but that's a brand I really associate with Walmart; I wonder if the Macy's products are actually any higher quality. Around all of this is a very interesting ceiling feature that doesn't seem to have any connection to the displays that are currently here -- I'm guessing there used to be something else in this part of the store that made more use of these design elements.

Huh, I guess Eddie Bauer's popularity has taken such a dive around here that I forgot they were based in Seattle! Eddie Bauer used to have a lot of mall stores around here, but I'm not sure what happened to those. Ford also made upscale SUVs called Eddie Bauer edition models, but I suppose the people in the Northwest preferred their LL Bean edition Subarus instead even if LL Bean is from Maine!

Does Martha Stewart have a line at Walmart now? Back in the day, she had a line at Kmart, but this proved to be rather embarrassing for the Martha Stewart brand as Kmart was swirling down the drain so I know they moved to other retailers. I have no interest in buying Martha Stewart anything, but I know Kmart used to sell Martha Stewart paint back in the day!

That Martha Stewart logo looks a bit like the old Sweet Factory logo. Sweet Factory used to be at the malls around here back in the era when Eddiie Bauer stores were pretty common at malls. Link: https://www.flickr.com/photos/mag3737/161263168

    1. Eddie Bauer still seems to be pretty popular around here, but maybe that's just the local factor! Eddie Bauer Fords used to be a pretty common sight too, definitely more common than LL Bean Subarus (at least in Port Angeles), but both seem to be a pretty rare thing these days -- you see a lot of older Subarus around here (obviously), but not really the LL Bean kind!

Yeah, I think Martha Stewart jumped over to Walmart when Kmart started really going downhill (though as of the last time I visited a Kmart, which was many years ago, I'm pretty sure they still had some Martha Stewart stuff). Macy's has had Martha Stewart for a while too -- when the old downtown flagship Bon Marche closed, they had a seemingly endless supply of leftover Martha Stewart christmas stuff they were clearing out -- and apparently JCPenney also licensed the Martha Stewart name. Clearly, none of these chains are getting exclusivity agreements!
