There are more manly stereotypes to be found on the way back to the escalators: watches, fake wood, and some sort of sports stuff (I initially thought those were golf clubs, but that doesn't quite seem right). The pink shirts on display are a nice departure from that, however!
Ha, while Kroger fake wood is some attempt at a retro design, I think this fake wood is just old, lol. That said, although this looks a bit dated and dowdy compared to what I'd expect from a nice department store (I'm not sure if Macy's fits that category anymore anyway), there is no comparison between this and modern Kroger decor! This is way nicer. I can't even imagine how bad Kroger fake marble would look! Then again, who knows, I think Macy's was headquartered in Cincinnati for a while until recently so maybe them and Kroger did share some design contractors!
ReplyDeleteI guess if Macy's wanted to follow trendy sports, they'd have a pickleball display in the men's department. I don't think this Macy's is that trendy though, lol.
It seems like Macy's has made some attempts at being trendy in this store, but this part of the store certainly hasn't seen any of that! Oh well, at least it's from back when stores used higher-quality finishes than they do these days.
