A true shopping arcade

After passing through the checkouts, there's a specific exit door (an unusual sight at a US Safeway) that drops you right into the covered breezeway, bypassing the courtyard. It may not have been the original intended use of these buildings, but these days this is a very literal shopping arcade, since that term originally referred to a series of arches just like this before evolving into a general term for a shopping center (and then later into a term for games you might find at that type of place). It feels a bit anachronistic to see someone pushing a shopping cart through a space like this!
