It was an absolutely beautiful July day when I made this visit, without any clouds or haze to obscure the view of Rainier over the top of the low-lying part of the mall. (By the way, "the mountain is out" is apparently a Northwest-specific phrase, though which mountain it's referring to depends on where you are -- in Seattle it's Rainier, whereas in Port Angeles it's Baker, for example.) I'm surprised my old camera was able to get a relatively decent view of it, since it can be pretty difficult to photograph -- these outdoor scenes are always where that camera surprised me.
