Cake and eggs

I guess I decided to stock up on goofy escalator ramp pictures on my way out the door! Some of the products over here were seemingly being sold by Venchi rather than directly by Eataly, judging by the signs on the left of the picture, and from their website, it seems Venchi is basically a chocolate shop that sells gelato on the side, despite their Eataly location seeming to primarily be a gelato shop.

This comment was supposed to go in the kitchenware post, but Blogger is eating this comment there so I'll try it here.

I suppose if you want to stop buying kitchen stuff, stay out of Office Depot! Yes, Office Depot! I was at Office Depot last weekend and they were selling Cuisinart kitchen tools in the queued checkout line. I thought that was highly bizarre that they'd sell stuff like that, but I guess you never know what you'll see lurking as impulse buy items.

Of course, as another Houston retail enthusiast recently discovered, Office Depot also now sells regular sizes of deodorants, tampons, toothpaste, mouthwash, and stuff like that. Don't ask me why anyone would shop for those things at Office Depot! I guess Office Depot figures that if that stuff worked for Bed, Bath, and Beyond, it might work for them...except I don't think those things worked for Bed, Bath, and Beyond given their fate!

    1. I heard about that Office Depot thing somewhere! It reminds me of Fry's Electronics, though at least Office Depot's stores still have plenty of the products you'd actually expect to find there, unlike Fry's! Speaking of Fry's, apparently their Renton store (the only one in the Seattle area) is going to become WinCo soon, after having sat empty for the last few years.

Huh, that is really strange about the Renton Fry's becoming a WinCo because there is a hot rumor going around that the ex-Fry's nearest to me is slated to become a Joe V's. Joe V's is HEB's discount store format and HEB is specifically targeting WinCo markets in Dallas (WinCo has some stores up there) by locating Joe V's near them including in an old Albertsons building which HEB sat on for years.
