Yellow bakery

Strangely, the bakery sign is different from all of the other service departments, with a list of services below the department name and a pair of panels on the sides intended for slide-in photos. One of those photos has gone missing, while the other looks horribly faded, as is all too common with full-color prints from this era.

The oval accents on these departments really remind me of Proto-Lifestyle, or Lifestyle v1 to a lesser extent!

  1. Ha, you never know where you'll see knock-off Safeway decor. It might be with this rare Albertsons decor package or this rather unusual Kroger City Market decor which has oval department signage and Proto-Lifestyle-like aisle markers! Link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jjMxheALXXZ2PVnv8

Oh well, at least that decor isn't as strange as what's going on at this King Soopers! Is that 1980s decor where they replaced neon with recycled Kroger Script decor?! Link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Hf4QJHKdFtq4Yt7D6

As far as this Albertsons goes, I'm not sure if the abundant Sincerely signs are an annoyance or something adding some much needed color to those bland tile walls!

    1. Those are some funky stores! I was aware of that retro King Soopers, but not that weird City Market. Those aisle markers totally look like Proto-Lifestye, even down to having descriptive names for each aisle -- that's something Safeway did in many decor packages dating back at least to the 80s, but I've never seen Kroger do anything like that!

Ha! I would much prefer if the blank spaces were filled with something other than Sincerely signs, but you're right that they might actually be better than nothing (for once)!
