Drive Up & Sav

The exterior here is a bit unusual too. While it has a distinctly Albertsons look, it has entrances on both sides of the store, like a Safeway (something that's not particularly common at Albertsons, in my experience). It's also strange to see the brand-new Drive Up & Go sign right next to the horribly faded Albertsons and Sav-On ones, and the main signs have bird netting wrapped all around them, something I've never seen at any other grocery store I've ever visited. (Bird spikes are more common; I can't decide if this is more or less ugly than that, but it's certainly more visually intrusive.)

Bird netting around signs is not completely unheard of around here. In fact, one of my local Krogertsons used to have the bird netting until it got new signs after the store re-opened after being flooded during Hurricane Harvey. Here is a picture of netting around the old sign: https://maps.app.goo.gl/q6RxYaFS8nZcd2ZB7

I do have some bad news to report. Do you remember the Blue & Grey Market Krogertsons which HHR guest blogger billytheskink did a The Year of Kroger post last summer? It was the only TYOK post which I didn't do. Anyway, billytheskink has shared photos of it, it just got new signage with the spoon cart and the Albertsons' food and pharmacy signs were finally removed! What a shame! That was the first Houston Albertsons so it was nice that the Albertsons signs were still around! Oh well.

On the topic of HHR, Mike re-built the sidebar on HHR and he included a link to your blog on it. Hopefully you'll see some more traffic from that!

    1. Interesting! I wonder why that isn't something you see around here.

Ugh, not the stupid cart thing! That being said, while it's sad for the Albertsons signage to go away, I won't miss the weird all-caps Kroger signage so many Texas stores used to have...
