Around the corner is another, near-identical lightbox thing, this time sitting above part of the coat department. Its placement seems kind of random, and I have to wonder if there was once something special here that would have merited the special ceiling -- I often associate this sort of ceiling treatment with cosmetics departments, but I have no idea if Sears ever used it for those.
The lightboxes seem random enough that it is hard to tell if Sears was trying to spotlight anything in particular here or not. I'm not sure if this Sears had a Land's End or not back some years ago, but I guess this would have been a good spot for it. Granted, in the children's department, they could have used the lightboxes to spotlight McKids!
ReplyDeleteThis Sears definitely had a Land's End -- I bought a coat from there when I was growing up -- but this isn't where it was. We'll see its former space a bit later!
