Tree in the alley

In this mall's original configuration, Sears/Frederick & Nelson stood on its own at the south end of a short wing. However, the parking garage we saw yesterday was part of a very large expansion Westfield built in the late 00s that turned the mall from an L shape into a big loop, and which resulted in this weird alley thing along the east side of Sears. Stranger still, since the new part of the mall is two stories while the original portion is a standard single-level design (I know two-story malls aren't that rare, but they're certainly pretty uncommon locally), this store's first- and second-floor mall entrances aren't anywhere near one another! But I'm getting ahead of myself again.
