Picking up the Haggen carriers

Here's one last look back at this Haggen with its distinctly Lifestyle look, both inside and out. This was an interesting historical curiosity, but there's more to see in Oak Harbor, so I'll be back with that next weekend! In the meantime, does anyone know where "carriers" is used as a term for shopping carts? I've seen signs like that a couple times at older Safeways, but it's definitely not a Northwest term -- everyone around here just calls them carts!

  1. Nope, can't say I've heard that one before...

Cart is certainly the word of choice in this part of Texas.

    2. Thanks, that's what I figured! The only thing I can think is that maybe it was a California thing, since that's where Safeway was based, but if so, I feel like I would have heard someone call them "carriers" by now since there are so many Californians around here!

    3. I haven't heard it either. Buggy is the word of choice in most of the Southeast.
