Haggen left Safeway's checkouts pretty much as is, just adding some woodgrain vinyl on the lower part of the cabinetry and replacing the register lights with their wavy flag style. As the last picture showed, they even kept Safeway's distinctive double-stacked express checkout setup, something that was long a staple of their stores but seems to be slowly disappearing these days thanks to the expansion of self checkout. For some reason, Haggen used standard register lights with handwritten plaques on them rather than the EXPRESS signs they normally used in these converted stores.
