Pioneer Crossing

The shopping center that includes this Safeway is apparently called Pioneer Crossing, referring to its location at the intersection of Shaw Rd and E Pioneer (a street that apparently has no suffix -- I thought that was another Google Maps error at first, but it certainly seems like the official form doesn't have a suffix at all). The rest of the shopping center is pretty bland, including a very boring tenant lineup (at least based on this sign). And yes, there is a Starbucks inside Safeway and a stand-alone one in the parking lot!

It is a bit strange to see a fence like that around a shopping center. It almost looks like they're expecting a horse to walk up to the shopping center or something. Granted, given the look of the field next door, maybe that is a possibility, lol. Certainly you wouldn't see something like that in Houston...not in any part that I shop in at least.

Ha, the Starbucks across from a Starbucks is a perfect match for today's The Year of Kroger finale post at HHR! You'll want to check this one out, it is certainly some of the neatest Kroger architecture you'll see. 1. Ha! This area used to be pretty agricultural, but it's pretty much suburbia these days. I'm not entirely sure why they needed a fence at all, but that split-rail design is pretty popular around here.

Yep, I saw that post! That is quite a nice store, and the Urban Mix decor goes nicely with the Art Deco exterior!
