The strip mall has a feature that I've never seen before -- a set of retail kiosks sitting on the sidewalk! These make it really feel like an outdoor mall rather than just a generic strip mall sort of thing, and I'm surprised this wasn't ever done (as far as I'm aware) in modern "outdoor mall" setups. After all, this place was built in the relatively early days of shopping malls! And unlike most regular malls, the kiosks here were actually occupied with various local businesses, not just sitting empty.
