While I like Modern's "floating" produce signs, when they're back to back with another one, there should probably be some sort of backdrop dividing them! Or at the very least, they could paint the back of the letters -- it looks like they left them as unpainted foam, at least on the "wine & beer" sign. The produce displays here are interesting, looking a bit less like the Lifestyle version than what Safeway uses these days, and look kind of randomly placed from this angle.
Ugh, this image makes it look like the store is in an assembly line! At least the pineapples and colorful fruit add something nice to this area. The produce sign clashing with the sign behind it, as you say, just adds to the visual mess here! I'm sure it probably doesn't look as bad in person, but this just doesn't look like a fun place to shop from here! I suspect it might look even worse at night given that at least the skylights are adding some brightness.
